Na Pali Coast – Kauai

Located on the Hawaiian Island of Kauai, the Na Pali Coast is arguably the most beautiful and breathtaking scenic points in the world. The Na Pali Coast not only has a lot to offer, but it is a “must see” destination while on the island of Kauai. While Kauai is the wettest island in Hawaii, this trait actually lends to the beauty of the Na Pali Coast, as it helps carve out the majestic cliffs and coastline that are second to none in the world.

Accessing the Na Pali Coast

Interestingly enough, the most sought after activity/attraction on Kauai is also one of the tougher places to access. However, it is definitely not impossible, and if you are up to the challenge the end result will be totally worth it.

You can access the coast three way, hiking (there is only one area of land access to the coast and it is through the Kalalau Trail, which is an 11-mile trail that starts at Kee Beach, crosses five different valleys and ends at the secluded Kalalau Beach). If this is too much for you, then kayaking or boating out to the area to view it from the water, or taking a helicopter tour ride to see the entire coast and cliffs will probably be the venue for you. The way you choose will be based on personal preference, but all of these options have different rewards and are well worth the effort.

There are also a number of Na Pali Coast boat tours that you can choose from, if you don’t want to boat out yourself. All of these tours are exceptional and they really allow you to get a glimpse of the true beauty and awesomeness that the cliffs and shoreline provide.

How Big is the Na Pali Coast?

Good question, as many people underestimate just how big the area really is. Viewing it from a distance can sometimes make it seem smaller than it really is. However, the cliffs along the shoreline stretch out an amazing 17 miles, all of which seems something out of a historical movie or a long lost land in time.

The Na Pali Coast is definitely something that you will want to see and experience for yourself while you are on Kauai. There won’t be many more chances if life to see something as majestic and amazing as these cliffs and shoreline, so if you ever have the chance to experience the Na Pali Cliffs, then jump at it!
